• <br /> Air Monitoring Equipment Table <br /> Item Requirement <br /> Atmospheric • Field organic vapor monitor capable of detecting organic vapor <br /> Monitoring concentrations of 1 ppm (vlv) Field organic vapor monitor to be <br /> checked against or calibrated to known reference gas daily Unless <br /> otherwise noted, field organic vapor meter consists of Thermo <br /> Environmental Instruments, Model OVM 580B, equipped with 10 0 <br /> eV photolonization detector,calibrated to 100 ppm v/v isobutylene and <br /> colometnc tube for benzene <br /> • Action levels (measurement in the breathing zone of work area) <br /> >5 ppm for 10 minutes upgrade to modified Level C <br /> >50 ppm for 10 minutes stop work and consult with project <br /> manager <br /> • Drager gas detection pump with vapor specific detection tubes for <br /> benzene,petroleum hydrocarbons,N-hexane, and toluene <br /> Visual Monitoring • Evaluate coworkers and self for signs of fatigue and visual signs of <br /> distress due to physical labor and possible chemical exposure <br /> Visual monitoring should be routinely conducted by workers Workers should evaluate themselves <br /> for signs of fatigue as the work progresses Work breaks should be taken as reasonably required <br /> to maintain safety and efficiency <br /> SITE CONTROL MEASURES <br /> Exposure of offsite personnel to fugitive air emissions is not anticipated dunng excavation <br /> activities Control boundanes will be established with caution tape and pylons or other measures as <br /> necessary Should chemical exposure through the respiratory pathway exceed the levels established <br /> in this plan,work will cease and the site will be cleared of personnel and bystanders until such time <br /> as the potential for exposure is under control Control measures can be engineering controls or <br /> institution of respiratory protection The foreman and/or industrial hygienist will implement <br /> boundary control and containment measures as necessary Plastic sheeting will be used to <br /> minimize generation of fugitive vapor emissions from the soil stockpile and the excavation as <br /> needed Protective plastic sheeting should be used to cover contaminated soil whenever the area <br /> does not need to be immediately accessed <br /> DECONTAMINATION PROCEDURES <br /> • Health and Safety Plan for F&H Construction <br /> 130 North Hunter St, Stockton, CA <br /> Pone i 7 <br />
