Anderson and Associates. The report was submitted for replacement of
Well MW-3, which is believed to have been constructed improperly allowing grout to enter the well.
The installation of groundwater monitoring wells at the facility was required by the 26 August 2004
California Water Code Section 13267 Order.
I have the following comments on the workplan:
1 The workplan does not adequately describe the construction of Well MW-3 to determine if it is a
candidate for pressure grouting. Please submit a well construction detail for Well MW-3.
2 Please describe what techniques will be used to remove sediment from Well MW-3 prior to filling it
with grout.
3 Use of "neat bentonite"as well grout is not acceptable. Please use neat cement or a neat
cement/bentonite slurry with no more than five percent of bentonite by weight.
4 It is unclear if Well MW-3 has been surveyed. Please provide the survey location data. If the well
has not been surveyed, describe how that will be accomplished.
5 The attached figure does not present groundwater elevations or elevation contours as stated in the
workplan so evaluation of the proposed location of Well MW-5 is not possible.
By 16 March 2005,please submit a revised workplan that addresses the items listed above. If you have
any questions please telephone me at (916) 464-4616.
TIMOTH R.
