Specific labels for shipping of hazardous materials are <br /> available. <br /> Chain-of-custody documentation should accompany shipments of samples to the analytical <br /> laboratory. Often, the chain-of-custody document contains an analytical request section that may be <br /> completed following sample collection. Chronological listing of collected samples is desirable. A <br /> copy of the completed chain-of-custody form should be retained in the event that the original form is <br /> lost or destroyed. <br /> c <br /> It should be noted that samples retained by the analytical laboratory that are not chosen for analysis <br /> may be assessed a fee for disposal. Often a disposal fee is assigned to a sample, typically soil, that <br /> has been retained beyond standard analytical holding periods. Therefore, consultation with project <br /> management is recommended to determine which samples may be of interest. Contacting the <br /> selected analytical laboratory regarding disposal policies is also recommended.
