Mr. Eric Jenssen -2 - 2 October 2013
Sutter Home Winery
The workplan provides sufficient detail about the planned well installation activities and is
hereby approved. Well installation and grouting procedures must follow San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department permitting guidelines to effectively provide an annular seal
from surface water and to prevent communication with deeper water-bearing zones. All well
installation activities must follow San Joaquin County Well Standards (Ordinance Code
Section 9-1115.6), dated February 2005.
Within 60 days of completion of well installation activities, please submit a Monitoring Well
Installation Report that describes in detail the methods used to install each well and include
copies of well permits issued by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department.
Well installation activities must follow the requirements outlined in the attached Requirements
for Monitoring Well Installation Workplans and Monitoring Well Installation Reports. As
required by the MRP, all new monitoring wells shall be added to-the existing-monitoring
_ —
network and shall be sampled and analyzed per the MRP.
Please be advised that the proposed monitoring wells may be sufficient for the baseline
groundwater quality assessment, but that additional wells may be needed to monitor future
process wastewater discharge to the expanded LAAs. Information provided in the upcoming
RWD should include an evaluation of groundwater monitoring from the monitoring wells
approved in this letter. Based on the review of the RWD and additional groundwater
monitoring data, the revised WDRs may include a requirement for additional monitoring wells.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, please contact me at (916) 464-4616 or
sarmstrongawaterboards.ca.gov.
SCOTT ARMSTRONG, P.G., C.HG.
Engineering Geologist
Waste Discharge to Land Permitting Unit
enclosures: Requirements for Monitoring Well Installation Workplans and Monitoring Well
Installation Reports
cc: Rodney Estrada, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, Stockton
Meredith Durant, Kennedy/Jenks, San Francisco
