1 NOA Drywell Closure and Investigation Page 13 of 26
IMay 30, 2014
Sample Preservation
Sample preservation both before and after relinquishment into laboratory custody were
compared to the acceptable preservation and holding methods described above. No
inconsistencies were detected.
4.8 Waste Management
Drill cuttings and decontamination water were properly containerized and stored in 55-gallon
covered drums during and subsequent to site activities. Waste disposal was planned at
Forward Landfill, Inc. in Manteca, California. Disposal methodologies were contingent upon
analytical results. The landfill reviewed sampling results and additionally required representative
sampling of the waste in the drums for CAM-17 Metals. There are a total of six (6) full drums
and one (1) half-full drum containing drill cuttings and decontamination water. One (1) soil
sample was collected from each of the seven (7) drums. Samples were composited 4:1 and 3:1,
for a total of two (2) soil samples analyzed for CAM-17 Metals. Samples were picked up and
analyzed by McCampbell Analytical, Inc. Analytical results are included in Appendix D.
Disposal at Forward Landfill, Inc. in Manteca, California was approved by Republic Services on
April 28, 2014. The seven (7) drums containing the drill cuttings and decontamination water
were properly disposed of at Forward Landfill, Inc. in Manteca, California on May 6, 2014. A
Non-Hazardous Special Waste Manifest for the disposal is included in Appendix B. Laboratory
samples were disposed of by the analytical laboratory in accordance with their established
protocols. All waste was disposed of in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
4.9 Health and Safety Plan
Please see the site-specific Health and Safety Plan utilized for sampling and well destruction
activities, included as Appendix C.
4.10 Sampling Deviations
The following deviations from the work plan arose during sampling activities:
Sediment/sludge was not present in the Concrete Cure Room floor drain. Therefore, a
sample was not collected as intended in the work plan.
TPH as Gasoline, TPH as Diesel, and Total Recoverable Petroleum Hydrocarbon samples
were all collected using two (2) 40 ml VOA vials with hydrochloric acid preservation.
These containers were used rather than the containers specified in the work plan due to
the certified laboratory's recommendation.
902 Industrial Way•Lodi, CA 95240•209.367.3701 • Fax 209.333.8303 ®2014 Neil O.Anderson&Associates,Inc.
