Neil 0.Anderson&Associates HASP Page 14 of 21 ' March 18, 2014 ' Latex gloves (during soil handling activities) • Hard hat (during heavy equipment operation) • Ear plugs (during heavy equipment operation) ' Level D was chosen because the concentration of Chemicals of Potential Concern is anticipated to be low in the soil and groundwater and should not pose an inhalation hazard to workers due to the short duration of work and control of fugitive dust by water. In addition, workers shall wear latex gloves and wash their hands after working with the soil in order to minimize dermal risk. PPE requirements are subject to change as site information is updated or changes. If site conditions warrant an upgrade to Level C or higher PPE, work will stop until the HASP is updated. ' 8.0 ILLUMINATION Nighttime work activities are not anticipated; however, if nighttime work becomes necessary, illumination at the site will be supplemented in order to ensure safe working conditions. Supplemental lighting will be provided by mobile generator powered units. ' 9.0 METEORLOGICAL MONITORING ' If necessary, onsite ambient weather conditions (temperature, wind speed and direction, and relative humidity) may be monitored by the following methods; an onsite met station, real-time internet weather locations, and the National Weather Service (if a local station can provide data relevant to the site). If required, onsite meteorological monitoring will be performed simultaneously with the site activities to ensure all necessary precautions have been taken. The meteorological tower, if required, will be equipped with sensors for measurement of temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and wind direction. All sensors will be appropriately calibrated prior to the start of work. ' 10.0 STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES ' 10.1 Standard Safe Work Practices Standard safe work practices required at the site include: ' Eating, drinking, chewing gum or tobacco, smoking, or any other activity that increases the probability of hand-to-mouth transfer and ingestion of material is prohibited in any area designated as contaminated. ' Hands and face must be thoroughly washed upon leaving the work area. • Whenever decontamination procedures for outer garments are in effect, the entire body should be thoroughly washed as soon as practical after leaving the contamination ' reduction zone.
