w
715 Hunter, Stockton
April 27, 2005
Page 2
Additional investigation is required to define the vertical and lateral extent of the
contamination in both soil and groundwater. The vertical extent of the contamination can
be assessed at the same time as investigation of the lateral and vertical extent of the
contamination off-site is conducted. Both vertical and lateral investigation can be conducted
in the same investigation phase using field data, as well as 24-hour tum-around of sample
analyses (if need be), to determine sampling depth, well screen locations, and sampling
locations. Submit a work plan to assess the lateral and vertical extent of the contamination
plume to EHD by June 15, 2005 .
The use of multi-level monitoring wells to assess the extent of the contamination cannot be
used unless an acceptable installation and destruction method is provided.
EHD agrees with AGE's recommendation to remove motor oil (TPH-mo) from quarterly
analyses.
If you have any questions, please contact Jeffrey Wong at (209) 468-0335.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environm
ental Health Department y
Je fret' Margaret agotio, REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
c: RWQCB, Central Valley Region — James L.
