I -
F, ,
k> ' 22 May 2002
AGE-NC Project No . 01 -0877
of three casing-water volumes is removed from the well; and/or 2) the field-measured ground water
I parameters have stabilized. However, if a well is purged dry prior to evacuating three casing-water
E ;
volumes, a ground water sample will be collected following 80 percent recovery of ground water
( l within the well or within 8 hours of well evacuation.
f-- 1
e 4.4.3 . Sample Withdrawal
Water samples will be collected from the monitoring well using a disposable polyethylene bailer.
I
These bailers are disposed ofafter one use and require no decontaminating, therebyrnmur zing cross
l contamination due to sampling devices . Samples will be drawn and collected in such a manner that
agitation and exposure of the groundwater to the atmosphere is minimal. Sample containers will be
( 1 filled using the appropriate disposable sampling attachment which allows controlled flow out of the
= bottom of the bailer by lifting up on the check valve.
-I 4.4.4. Sample Handling
I
Ground water samples will be collected into laboratory-supplied containers. Ground water samples
for BTEX, TPH-g, and fuel oxygenates analyses will be collected into 40-m1 VOA vials containing
0. 5 ml of hydrochloric acid as preservative. Following collection, the samples will be appropriately
1 labeled and placed on ice and kept in a cooler until delivered to the laboratory for analysis . Chain-of-
- custody protocols will be used to document sample custody transfer from the field to the analytical
laboratory. A chain-of-custody form will accompany the samples.
l
4. 5 . EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION
i._
All sampling tools used for sample collection will be thoroughly washed with a solution ofAlconox
- 1 and rinsed with clean water prior to each new sampling location. Hollow-stem augers will be
(I steam-cleaned prior to the advancement of each boring.
L`J 4.6. BORING ABANDONMENT
All soil borings not completed as monitoring wells will be permanently sealed to prevent vertical
migration of potential contaminants. Soil borings shall be abandoned by backfilling with bentonite
_ or cement-bentonite slurry from the total depth to surface grade. The EHD will be notified for grout
inspection at least 72 hours prior to conducting grouting procedures.
Advanced GeoEnvii onmental, Inc,
IJI
IrIk _
r;
