(ATC) has prepared this report on behalf of Mr. Raymond Farmer, to
estimate the mass of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) remaining in soil and
groundwater beneath the site. The estimated mass of TPHg in soil and groundwater at the site
were calculated per the verbal request of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department (SJCEHD) in January 2009. The mass calculations are summarized in the following
report.
LI 1.1 Site Location
The site is located on the north side of Oak Street and on the cast side of Hunter Street in
Stockton, California, as shown on Figure 1 . The property is located in a mixed residential and
commercial area. The site, formally occupied by Toyota Town Inc., is currently occupied by a
church.
l 1.2 Site History
On October 6, 1987, Al Williamson, General Contractor, removed two 1 ,000-gallon leaded
gasoline tanks and one 550-gallon waste oil tank from the locations shown on Figure 2. Soil
J samples collected after the tank removals contained elevated concentrations of petroleum
hydrocarbons and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
On January 21 , 1988, Falcon Energy, attempted to remove all VOC contaminated soil by over-
excavating the former tank locations. The former tank locations were excavated to
approximately 22 feet below ground surface (bgs). The excavation was limited to the north by
the on-site building. The confirmation samples collected from the base of the over-excavation
j still contained elevated concentrations of volatile organics. The over-excavated soil was
disposed of at Forward Landfill near Stockton, California.
On June 30 and July 1 , 1997,, Smith Technology personnel supervised advancement of seven soil
borings, S131 through SB7, at the site to depths ranging from approximately 40 to 45 feet bgs to
I
nvestigate the horizontal and vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon soil and groundwater
S:Environmental\62596\Reparts\Mass Calcs 2009.doe 1
II 7
