On April 8, May 12, May 31 and June 29, 2005, ATC personnel collected water samples from the
groundwater treatment and discharge component of the vapor extraction system Water samples were
collected from the system influent, system effluent, and vessel 1 (1 e , the effluent of vessel 1 which is in
between canisters) of the groundwater treatment system and transported under chain-of-custody
' documentation to Argon Labs for analyses The water samples were analyzed for TPHg by EPA Method
8415B, BTEX by EPA Method 8021B, and MTBE, TAME, ETBE, DIPE, TBA, 1,2-DCA, and EDB by
EPA Method 8260B
Vapor Analytical Results
' Influent and effluent vapor samples were collected from the vapor extraction system during the second
quarter 2005 on April 8,May 12,and June 29,2005
' Gross range organics (C6-C12), the TPHg equivalent, were detected in the influent vapor sample collected
on April 8,2005 at a concentration of 130 parts per million by volume(ppmv) Benzene was detected in the
influent vapor samples collected on April 8 and June 29, 2005 at concentrations of 0 5 ppmv and 0 12 ppmv,
respectively Toluene was detected in the influent vapor samples collected on April 8 and June 29, 2005 at
concentrations of 10 ppmv and 0 094 ppmv, respectively Ethylbenzene was detected in the influent vapor
samples collected on April 8 and June 29,2005 at concentrations of 18 ppmv and 0 059 ppmv, respectively
Total xylenes were detected in the influent vapor samples collected on April 8 and June 29, 2005 at
concentrations of 3 4 ppmv and 0 52 ppmv, respectively None of the analytes of interest were detected in
the influent vapor sample collected on May 12,2005
' MTBE, TBA, TAME, ETBE, DIPE, 1,2-DCA, and EDB were not detected in the influent vapor samples
collected on April 8,May 12,2005 and June 29, 2005
NGross range organics, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes were detected to the effluent samples on
April 8, 2005 at concentrations of 3 5 ppmv, 0 074 ppmv, 0 063 ppmv and 0 9 ppmv, respectively Xylenes
were detected in the May 12, 2005 effluent sample at concentration of 0 061 ppmv although they were not
' detected in the influent sample and may represent a slug of higher concentration vapor going through the
system at the time of collection Xylenes were detected in the June 29, 2005 effluent sample at
concentration of 0 072 ppmv
' MTBE, TBA, TAME, ETBE, DIPS, 1,2-DCA, and EDB were not detected in the effluent vapor samples
collected on April 8,May 12,2005 and June 29, 2005
A summary of vapor analytical data is provided in Table 4 Groundwater laboratory data sheets and chain-
of-custody documentation are contained in Attachment 4
Water Treatment System Analytical Results
' The influent, vessel 1, and effluent water samples from the treatment and discharge component of the
vapor extraction system were sampled during the first quarter 2005 on April 8, May 12, May 31, and June
29,2005
TPHg, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes were detected in the influent water sample collected
on April 8, 2005, from the treatment and discharge component of the vapor extraction system at
' concentrations of 570 ug/L, 12 ug/L, 12 ug/L, 23 ug/L, and 120 ug/L, respectively
