' 1" KLEINFELDER ► Measurements were made from the top of the north rim of the PVC well casings ' The water level probe was rinsed with distilled water before and after each measurement. Depth to groundwater was subtracted from the total depth of the well, and the volume of water ' contained in the well (well volume) was calculated. Depth to groundwater measurements are presented on Table 3. Prior to collecting the samples, the wells were checked with a clear Teflon bailer for a product layer or sheen. No product layer or sheen was observed in the bailed samples The wells were subsequently purged and sampled While purging, groundwater field parameters (pH, conductivity, and temperature) were monitored. Samples were collected after the measurements stabilized, and approximately 11 gallons (3 well volumes) of water were purged from the wells. Samples were collected in bottles supplied by the laboratory for the requested analyses After collecting a sample, the sample bottles were immediately sealed, labeled, and placed in an iced cooler for transport to the analytical laboratory Field well development, purge and depth to groundwater logs are included in Appendix E 4.3 SURVEYING On February 3, 1993, Tom O Morrow, Inc (California Licensed Land Surveyor #5161) surveyed the locations and elevations of the three monitoring wells and the locations of the borings X-, Y-, and Z-coordinates were measured relative to two of the benchmarks being used by the hospital renovation contractor The survey coordinates and casing elevations for the wells are presented on Table 3 The location map generated by Tom O Morrow, Inc is contained in Appendix F 4 4 GROUNDWATER GRADIENT Depth to the static groundwater surface was measured from the permanent mark on the north side of the top of each well casing The depth to groundwater was then subtracted from the 24-220152-DOOIFRI2-105 (1993) Page 8 of 18 July 27, 1993 copyright 1993 ICteinfetder, Inc
