KLEI Nf-ELDER
Analytical Results
Anal
6 2 2 Stockpile y
' The 48 stockpile samples were analyzed on a standard (5-day) turnaround schedule for
' ► Purgeable TPH by EPA Method 8015M/5030
' ► BTEX by EPA Method 8020
The analytical results are listed on Table 4. TPH as gasoline concentrations ranged from 0 to
37 mg/kg A copy of the analytical laboratory report is included in Appendix I.
' 6 3 AERATION
' Based on the analytical results of the stockpile soil samples, Kleinfelder submitted an
application to the San Joaquin Unified Air Pollution Control District for aeration of the soil
The application was approved in a letter dated May 20, 1993 (Appendix I)
6 3.1 Soil Aeration Sampling
The stockpiled soil was spread out to a depth of 1 foot for aeration at a site behind the hospital
complex (Plate 8) After the soil was aerated for approximately 1 month, the soil was
screened with a PID on June 25, 1993, the results of which are presented on Table 5 Soil
samples were collected from 6 to 8 inches below the ground surface along six rows Four
samples were collected per row. The two samples with the highest PID readings (20 and 30
' ppmv), Sample Nos 83373 and 83391, were subsequently analyzed discretely for TPH as
gasoline and BTEX Based on the initial results of the two samples (non-detect), soil
composite samples were also submitted for analyses Samples were composited by row
(excluding the two samples initially analyzed The sample locations are shown on Plate 8
6 3 2 Soil Aeration Analytical Results
TPH purgeable concentrations were detected Just above the reporting limit at 2 and 3 mg/kg in
two of the six composite samples Ethylbenzene was detected in one the samples at 0 007
mg/kg, and xylenes were detected in two of the samples at 0 009 and 0 016 mg/kg Benzene
' l
24-220152-DDO/FR12-105 (1993) Page 14 of 18 July 27, 1993
copyright 1993 Kleinfelder, Inc
