The Q4-2002 Report presents monitoring and sampling data for three monitoring wells and one
domestic well in September 2002, and the Closure Report presents a summary of investigation and remedial
activities and a site closure request.
The on-site domestic well and the three on-site monitoring wells were sampled on 17 September 2002. The
depth to water was approximately 15 feet below ground surface, and the groundwater flow direction was to the
northeast at 0.002 feet/foot. The water samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline
(TPHg) and diesel (TPHd),benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and total xylenes (BTEX). The on-site domestic
well and the three monitoring wells were non-detect for all constituents at appropriate detection limits. This was
the fourth groundwater monitoring event since the monitoring wells were first installed and sampled in
November 2001.
Based on these non-detect concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbon contaminants in groundwater, JCA requests
site closure. We concur with your request for site closure. By 31 December 2002,please submit a plan of work
to properly destroy the three monitoring wells. All work must be completed in accordance with State and local
laws, including obtaining an appropriate San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department well destruction
permit. Once we receive a letter report documenting that wells have been properly abandoned(removed and/or
destroyed), we can proceed with our site closure process.
Please notify me at least five business days prior to any site work or sampling. If you have any questions or
comments,please call me at(916) 255-3115.
Marty Hartzell,R.G.
Associate Engineering Geologist
cc: Ms.Margaret Lagorio, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, Stockton
Mr. John Cummings, John Cummings &Associates,Fremont
California Environmental Protection Agency
Ca Recycled Paper
The energy challenge facing California is real.
