We have also reviewed the previous submittals of this
document. Our detailed comments on the Work Plan can be found in the enclosed
memorandum.
Because the Work Plan did not present the existing soils data for this
excavation, we are unable to approve of all of the proposals or provide specific
recommendations. We request that the existing soils data be submitted to amend
this Work Plan. The data should be summarized in tabular form and should specify
the depth at which the soils samples were collected, the sample locations should
be depicted on a map of the excavation and the laboratory analytical sheets
should be provided. Upon receipt of these data, we are willing to discuss the
proposals in the Work Plan in order to optimize data collection.
BecaiuSe +tie ;oL P;ars did ;got detail pians for remediation of the soils, we
require that a new plan and time schedule be submitted for the remediation of the
fuel contaminated soils. If the installation of the monitor well proposed in
this Work Plan indicates that ground water has been contaminated, we require that
the new work plan include proposals to:
1 . define the lateral and vertical extent of dissolved fuel ground water
contamination;
2. install an extraction system to recover floating product, if encountered;
3. remediate the dissolved ground water contamination;
4. modification of the Interim Remedial Measure (IRM) ; and
5. a time schedule to accomplish the above required tasks.
