Through the evaluation of
quarterly ground water monitoring data, it has been determined
that the plume of contamination is moving in an easterly
direction across Banta Road. Currently, DDRW Tracy does not have
a long term access agreement, for monitoring and/or remediation
purposes, in place west of Banta Road. The plume' s easterly
expansion makes the procurement of access agreements an immediate
priority.
The Department recommends that DDRW Tracy move quickly to
procure the necessary long term access agreement and evaluate
potential containment strategies. Containment of the plume ' s
expansion will significantly limit the impact to the local
community and reduce the number of access agreements necessary
for DDRW Tracy to acquire.
The Department also urges DDRW Tracy to move quickly to
obtain the necessary funding to execute these recommendations.
Failure to act will add to the overall complexity and cost of the
ground water cleanup. Should you have any questions regarding
this letter, you may contact me at (916) 855-7874 .
Sincerely,
Jim Pinasco
Waste Management Engineer
Site Mitigation Branch
Region 1
cc: See next page.
