Evaluation of Hydrocarbons January 29, 1991
Waterfront Redevelopment, Stockton, California AGS 39048-2
We understand from conversations with personnel of Unocal that the Unocal property was
used as a bulk storage plant. No additional information on the tanks that were at the site
is available to Applied GeoSystems. Information supplied to Applied GeoSystems from the
City of Stockton regarding the Morton Paint parcel indicates the site was used as a retail
store and warehouse and also for paint manufacturing and bulk chemical products storage.
We understand approximately 10 underground storage tanks were previously at the site. We
have no information regarding the contents of these tanks. It is our further understanding,
based on information supplied by the City of Stockton, that one 2,000-gallon underground
fuel storage tank may be located on the individually-owned property. Information provided
by personnel of the City of Stockton Redevelopment Agency indicates that the neighboring
parcel on the western boundary of the former Unocal bulk plant was formerly occupied by
L & M Petroleum. Six aboveground storage tanks ranging in size from 13,200 gallons to
108,000 gallons and seven underground storage tanks ranging in size from 7,500 gallons to
20,000 gallons were formerly present on the L & M property. According to the title report
for the L & M Petroleum Property provided by the City of Stockton, Chevron U.S.A.
acquired a subsurface oil and gas lease on the parcel in 1980.
3
Applied GeoSystems
