V `■ KLEINFELDER
L
i
5 .CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
San Joaquin County is attempting to abandon the underground diesel storage tank in place.
Kleinfelder was retained to collect soil samples from five borings drilled adjacent to the tank to
assess the soil.
1
Petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in the soil borings on the northwest, north, east and
j southeast sides of the tank. Elevated TPH as diesel concentrations (740 and 690 mg/kg) were
detected in two samples from boring B-5 drilled near the southwest corner of the tank.
Concentrations of TPH as gasoline (97 and 35 mg/kg) were also detected in these samples.
Based on the analytical results, the soil near the southwest corner of the tank has been affected
i
with petroleum hydrocarbons. The source of the petroleum hydrocarbons have not been
confirmed, but .the tank is the apparent source. The lateral and vertical extent of TPH
migration near the southwest comer of the tank have not been assessed.
Kleinfelder recommends a copy of this report be submitted to the San Joaquin County Public
5.
Health Services, Division of Environmental Health for their review.
