The concentration of Benzene in this
water sample exceeds the Deparunent of Health Services Primary Maximum Contaminant Level
for Benzene in drinking water.
The ground water elevations, based on the depth to water measurements obtained June 22, 1994,
and the gradient calculation of those elevations indicate a northerly gradient. Page seven (7) of
the report states that ground water flows to the north. Drawing number 3 of the report shows
gradient flow twords the south. The drawing is incorrect. A corrected drawing number 3 has
been submitted to PHS-EHD by The Twining Laboratories since the initial report.
At the present time the ground water elevations and the gradient calculations indicate that there
is no down gradient well. A down gradient well must be installed in order to properly
characterize conditions at this site.
The first quarter monitoring report fails to propose the next scope of work. Pursuant to Section
2723 of Article 11, Chapter 16, Title 23 of the California Code of Regulations (CCR) the
Responsible Party shall submit reports every three months to the Local Enforcement Agency.
The report shall include, under Section 2652 (c) 7 and 8 of Article 4 of the above referenced
chapter and title, a description of the corrective and remedial actions and investigations which
will be undertaken to determine the nature and extent of soil and ground water contamination,
proposed cleanup actions, and a time table for implementing the proposed actions. All future
quarterly reports submitted to PHSIEHD shall propose the next scope of work in order to meet
the quarterly reporting requirements.
An addendum to this report describing the next scope of work shall be submitted to PHSIEHD
A Pi'-Wurl of San Joaquin County Health Care Scr%ice%
