Turn left (north) on Manthey Road and <br /> travel approximately 2.5 miles to Houston Avenue. Tum left (west) on Houston Avenue, <br /> travel approximately 0.6 miles to Van Buskirk Park on the left (south) side of Houston <br /> Avenue. <br /> 3.3 Direction from the Site to the Hospital: From the site travel east on Houston Avenue <br /> to Manthey Road. Turn right (south) on Manthey Road and travel for approximately 2.5 <br /> miles to Hospital Road. Turn right (west) on Hospital Road and travel approximately 0.5 <br /> miles to San Joaquin General Hospital. <br /> 3.4 Air Monitoring Program and Respiratory Protection: Respiratory equipment will <br /> available on-site and will be used if high levels of hydrocarbon vapors are detected during <br /> operations. Vapors emitted from the excavation will be periodically monitored using a PID. <br /> In addition, if any unusual strong odors are noted, work will be temporarily discontinued <br /> and the source of the odor evaluated. <br /> 3.5 Personal Protective Equipment: It is anticipated that the level of personal protection <br /> required for this project will be U.S. EPA Level D or modified Level C. Personal protective <br /> equipment for each member of the field team will be available on-site and used as may be <br /> required by field conditions. A summary of the personal protective equipment is as follows: <br /> • Full or half face respirators equipped with organic vapor cartridges; <br /> • Tyvek® coveralls; <br /> • Neoprene rubber gloves; <br /> • Steel-toed leather work boots or steel-toed rubber boots; <br /> • Safety glasses; and <br /> • Hardhats. <br /> Hardhats will be worn at all times. Goggles will be worn during steam cleaning operations. <br /> If required, the remaining personal protective equipment shall be put on before entering the <br /> immediate work area. The sleeves of the coveralls shall be outside of the cuffs of the gloves <br /> to facilitate removal of clothing. If at any time protective clothing (coverall,boots or gloves) <br /> becomes torn, wet, or excessively soiled, they will be replaced immediately. <br />
