California (Figure 1): , The scope of work in*eluded sampling of six ground water monitoring wells. The purpose of the ground water monitoring,program is' to monitor site groundwater for- seasonal' variations in ' elevation,gradient and flow direction, and to assess the-impact ofpctroleum hydrocarbons and fuel oxygenating compounds on ground water beneath the site. PROCEDURES ; The -work was performed in accordance'with San Joaquin County Public 'Health Services - Environmental Health•Divisi6n,(PHS'-EHD) guidelines foreground water monitoring Well sampling ' and Central Valley Regional Water'-Quality Control,Board guidelines for, investigation' of . underground storage tank (UST) sites: 2:1: - ' MONITORING.WEL'L PURGE PROCEDURES, On 02-March 2001, a ground water monitoring event was conducted at the site. The,ground water ' ' monitorin activities included the measurement of ound Water levels and collection-of olirtd g . � 1 -water sanipleg from site monitoring we'M.MW-1 through MW-8. A solinst water level meter was . ' used to measure the depth to ground water in each well relative to the-tops of the well casings.. After ground water depth measurements-were collected; monitoring-wells MW-3 through MW-5 , Were purged using a per-cleaned, two-stage submersible pump. Wells MW--6 through MW-8 were . ; bailed with a steel-bailer and pre-purged an excessive amount in an'attempt to.purge fine sediments , and silts ffoni.;the wells.
