I1 1111u 161i�113 � <br /> n h Ir I I <br /> 7 <br /> Project No 58080-06-02 <br /> May 5, 1995 <br /> 3 <br /> 1d ' <br /> 20 NOVEMBER 1994 INVESTIGATIVE METHODS <br /> � � 1 <br /> ' 21 Geophysical Survey <br /> ' A geophysical survey was completed by J R Associates of San Jose, California to attempt to locate <br /> potential abandoned USTs and product/vent piping associated with the former service station <br /> operations at the site The survey was performed using ground penetrating radar(GPR) at a selected <br /> grid interval across the parking, perimeter landscaping, sidewalk and adjacent street areas <br /> ' 22 Soil Borings <br /> Eight exploratory borings(GB-6 through GB-11, MW-4 and MW-5)were advanced utilizing a CME <br /> 75 truck-mounted, hollow stem auger drill rig and a limited access hollow stem auger drill rig at <br /> the locations depicted on Figure 2 The borings were advanced to depths between 46 and 7I feet <br /> bgs with borings GB-6, GB-7, GB-8, GB-9 and GB-10 completed as vapor extraction wells VW-2 <br /> ' through VW-6, respectively Borings GB-6 and GB-7 were advanced at approximate angles of 30° <br /> from vertical to allow for the collection of soil samples beneath the Togo's structure <br /> Boring GB-11 was backfilled with bentonite-cement grout to surface grade The vapor extraction <br /> ' and groundwater monitoring wells were completed at surface grade with locking traffic-rated well <br /> covers Table I provides a cumulative Iist of all borings drilled at the site between March 1991 and <br /> ' November 1994 and summarizes the borings' disposition relative to completion status <br /> 23 ' Soil Sampling <br />' Soil samples were collected from the borings at approximate 5-foot vertical intervals utilizing a 2- <br /> inch diameter split spoon sampler equipped with a six-inch-long by 2-inch diameter brass sample <br /> tubes to facilitate sample handling and storage The borings were logged under the supervision of <br /> -10- <br /> 1 <br />
