i
Project No. 034-98081
 Page No. 10
survey will be performed by a licensed land surveyor. The horizontal well
locations will be accurate to one foot. The vertical measuring point elevations
` will be accurate to 0.01 foot. Depth to groundwater, and the corresponding
water table elevations, will N obtained and incorporated in the report following
the conclusion of this phase of work and any subsequent quarterly groundwater
. monitoring activities.
22. The monitoring wells will be developed using awented surge block and a bailer.
The development will be conducted until the well is producing relatively sand- i
free, clear groundwater. Groundwater generated during well development will
? be temporarily stored in DOT-approved steel 55-gallon drums. The handling
and disposal of well development water will be conducted in accordance with
the procedures described above for decontamination fluids.
, Il
i.
23. Groundwater samples will b,ecollected from the three wells no more than 48
hours following well development. Groundwater samples will be collected,
contained, preserved, and transported using guidelines presented in the LUFT
n.
C",
Field Manual. Groundwater ii samples will be analyzed for BTEX and TPH-G
using the analytical methods noted above. Prior to sample collection, the
potential presence of free floating product will be assessed using a clear
polypropylene or Teflon bailer.
I„
24. Prior to collecting a groundwater sample, a minimum of three well volumes will
be purged from the wells. Once pH, electrical conductivity (EQ,and
temperature have stabilized between two purge volumes, the well will be
sampled. Purging and salripling will be conducted using a sampling pump
and/or a PVC bailer and disposable polypropylene bailers, respectively. Purge
water will be temporarily stored on-site in DOT approved steel 55-gallon drums.
The handling and disposal of the purge water will be conducted in accordance
with the procedures described above for decontamination fluids and well
development water.
j°
25. Field work would be conducted by individuals`meeting the Occupational Safety
and Health Administration requirements for hazardous waste work including 40-
4 hour health and safety training and medical monitoring. The work would be
completed under standards :set forth by industry and deemed acceptable by
various regulatory agencies! Hard hats, protective eye wear, steel-toe boots,
protective clothing, and respiratory devices will•libe worn by field personnel when
deemed appropriate by the field engineer or geologist present. Please refer to the
Health and Safety Plan in Appendix C.
26. Upon completion of the field and laboratory ,investigation, a report would be
completed presenting the findings of the investigation. The report will be
submitted to the SJCEHD following review andlicomment by Wilbur-Ellis.
i
:.
'114
i;
KRAZAL`i& ASSOCIATES,: NC.
OJf1ces Serving the Western United States
-- 3498081.WP
