r
San Joaquin Health Services Re: 6540 E. Jahant Road, Acampo, CA
August 19,_1991 - Page 2 of 2 Re-excavation/resample work plan
7. Re-Excavation/Resample: Due to the depth of ground water and the small
size of the tank Jim Thorpe Oil , Inc./dba Rich-Mart Construction and
Wm. Hunter & Associates, Registered Geologists, feel the best method
of clean up will be a re-excavation/resample. The excavation will start
at a point 5 feet east of the existing excavation and extend west to a
point approxmiately 20 feet distant and a point south approximately
5 feet from the existing excavation to a northerly point and approx-
imately 20 feet distant. The excavation shall be approximately 20 feet
in depth. The close proximity of a large tree (see attached plot plan)
precludes excavation to the northwest any long distance. Hopefully,
all contamination will be cleaned up within the parameters suggested.
The resulting excavation will be approximately 20 feet by 20 feet by 20
feet. Total amount of spoil removed will be approximately 300 cubic
yards. All spoil will be placed on 6 mil plastic and covered with same
on site. Soil disposition decisions can be made after amounts and con-
tamination levels are ascertained. Samples will be taken at the middle
of the length of each side wall approximately 2 feet up from the bottom
and 5 feet above that (i .e. 7 feet from the bottom) and 4 bottom samples
at approximately 2 feet in from the side and ends of the excavation,
4 samples will be taken from the spoils pile resulting in 16 soil samples
total . Soil samples will be analyzed for EDB, BTEX, and TPH-G. Water
sample will be taken from the well on site at the time of excavation and
analyzed for same. The entire project will be under the direction of
Wm. J. Hunter & Associates, Registered Geologists. All reports, conclu-
sions, and recommendations will be made by them. Scale drawings showing
existing excavation, proposed excavation, sample locations and plot plan
are attached.
8. Health and Safety plan attached.
9. Timing: Sampling could be scheduled within two weeks following your
review of this work plan. The sample analyses should be ready for your
review within three weeks after they have been taken.
