Flying J Travel Plaza
PRELIMINARY SITE INVESTIGATION Ripon,CA
Quality assurance/quality control procedures were maintained during sampling. Appropriate ;
chain-of-custody Prot col wjis maintfqined throughout sample handling activities. I
Followin completion of drilling and sampling activities, each boring was backfilled using a 3
bentonite slurry. The surface was patched using concrete. Drill cuttings removed from each
boring were placed into 55-gallon drums and temporarily stored onsite.
u 4.2 Laboratory Analysis F
Eight soil samples and two groundwater samples were submitted for laboratory analysis to
Environmental Science Corporation of Mount Juliet, Tennessee a California certified
laboratory. The soil and groundwater samples were analyzed for total petroleum
I hydrocarbons-gasoline range organics (TPH-GRO) and total petroleum hydrocarbons-diesel ,
range organics (TPH-DRO) by EPA Method 8015; and the volatile organic compounds F
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes (collectively. referred to as BTEX), and fuel
oxygenates, including methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE)-by EPA Method 8260B. Results
I were requested on a standard-5 day turnaround time.
4.2.1. Laboratory Analytical Results
Laboratory analytical results are .summarized in Table 1. A copy of the laboratory analytical
rrreport and chain of custody are included in Appendix B. The following summarizes the
L laboratory analytical results:
• TPH-GRO and TPH.-DRO were not detected in any of the soil samples analyzed. i
I
• There were no BTEY or fuel oxygenates detected in any of the soil samples
analyzed.
• TPH-DRO was detected in one of the groundwater samples at a concentration of 45
micrograms per, liter. (µg/L). No other constituents were detected in either
groundwa er sarriple.
M I TYING J INC. 7 OGI Project No.OGI-09-191
1 1
