3.0 SCOPE OF WORK <br /> This work is being performed as part of a site assessment, to <br /> This work is being performed for quarterly monitoring <br /> --2L—This work is being performed as part of the remedial action at the site, and <br /> includes Installation of two vapor extraction wells to 40 ' and 50 ' <br /> The workplan discussing detailed field procedures and methods is attached. <br /> 4.0 JOB HAZARD ANALYSIS/ SITE CHARACTERIZATION <br /> 4.1 Chemical Hazards <br /> The hazardous chemicals which may be encountered at the site are listed on Table 1, <br /> attached A summary of relevant chemical, physical and toxicological properties for <br /> each chemical hazard are summarized in Appendix A <br /> The controls to limit potential for exposure to chemical hazards are addressed below <br /> o Inhalation of contaminants will be controlled by air monitoring of breathing <br /> zones <br /> o Ingestion of contaminants will be controlled by prohibiting eating, drinking, <br /> smoking, and chewing while working In addition, workers shall wash their <br /> hands and face before engaging in any of the above activities <br /> o Absorption of contaminants will be controlled by wearing protective clothing as <br /> necessary <br /> o Injection of contaminants will be controlled by wearing work gloves in the work <br /> area <br /> 4 11 Exposure Monitoring <br /> The Site Safety Officer shall monitor the ambient air in the work area with an organic <br /> vapor photoionization meter All air monitoring data and equipment type and <br /> callibratlon information will be recorded in the field Monitoring points will include <br /> • Air above open borehole in worker's breathing zone <br /> • Air downwind of the work space <br /> • Air upgradient of the work space <br /> A-111 2 September 20,1994 <br />
