9 w
r'
1.0 INTRODUCTION/HISTORY
The subject property is a located in central Escalon (Figure
1). The site currently is occupied by a former retail fueling
facility.
On April 17, 1991, soil samples were collected at the site by
RESNA Industries/WaterWork Corp. (RESNA) personnel during the
routine removal of six underground (u/g) storage tanks. The
u/g tanks consisted of one 550-gallon diesel tank, two 2,000-
gallon gasoline tanks, one 4,000-gallon gasoline tank, 10,000--
gallon regular gasoline tank, and a 350-gallon waste oil tank.
Soil samples were collected from native soil beneath each of
the above tanks at the locations shown on Figure 2.
Laboratory analysis of samples indicated that elevated
concentrations of both gasoline and diesel petroleum
hydrocarbons were present in soils within the former tank pits
(Table 1). Gasoline hydrocarbons were primarily confined to
the northeastern section of the excavation pit #1. Diesel
hydrocarbons were confined to excavation pit #2.
Based op_ the laboratory results, investigation of the extent
of soil and possible groundwater contamination is required
under San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental
Health Division guidelines.
This Preliminary Report is intended to provide background
information pertinent to the site; to present a workplan for
an initial investigation and to establish acceptable
methodologies whereby the workplan can be implemented.
2.0 BACKGROUND TECHNICAL DATA
2.1 Name and address of contact person; site address:
Conn tact Person: Mrs. Margaret Ekholm
1211 Avenue `G'
Sterling, IL 61081
SiteAddress: 1702 Jackson Street
Fscalon, CA 95320
2.2 Map showing site location, relative to nearby landmark
The site location is shown on Figure 1.
C` i
.,`,
EPRD730.WP 1
