Approximately 100 cubic yards of spoil was removed, placed on <br /> plastic on site, and properly covered_ The resulting excavation <br /> measures about 16' X 19' X 9' deep. Refer to Exhibits D & E for <br /> additional details and documentation. <br /> No further activity took place until September 12, 1959, when <br /> Canonie Environmental collected three samples from the excavation <br /> which had contained the gasoline & diesel tanks; one from the <br /> east & west walls, and one fromthe <br /> bottomed brasstubes,were which <br /> by Canontaken <br /> ie persanei wing properly <br /> were sealed, refrigerated, and transferred to the laboratory <br /> under proper chain of custody. Samples were analyzed for BTEX <br /> (8020,) and TEH (8015_ ) The results are summarized in Table III, <br /> which revealed that BTEX was below detection levels in all <br /> samples, and that TEN was detectable only in the west and bottom <br /> samples- <br /> Cin March 30, 1989, a .workplan was prepared by Caude C. Wood Co. , <br /> and submitted to the County Environmental Health <br /> from it <br /> proposed to remove an additional 5 feet of spoil <br /> and bottro ram for twemediationenof the s, and rrremoved spoil le as ged <br /> was also <br /> brief p g <br /> includad; (Exhibit F. ) <br /> The County EHD responded on June 22, 1989, detailing certain <br /> requirements that must be met prior to doing the work. A revised <br /> workplan was submitted on September 25, 19901 which addressed the <br /> issues raised. The County EHD responded to this workplan on <br /> November 30, 1990, stating numerous additional conditions that <br /> must be met in order to proceed with the proposal, and specifying <br /> a filing date of December 14, 1990 for submittal of a revised <br /> workplan. As a result of those requirements, the firm retained <br /> the services of William J. Hunter & Associates to prepare the <br /> workplan, and supervise the re-excavation <br /> necessary reports and <br /> and sampling. That workplan has been prepared, and is included <br /> as the next part of this report.
