Decontamination will 4y/ done with steam cleaner o%Jarger equipment and r deionized water with Spic and Span' on smaller equipment. Several soil samples will be taken to determine the grain size distribution of the soil encountered at the site. All soil temporary removed will be stockpiled on a 10 mil plastic sheet and a 10 mil plastic sheet will be used to cover the soil to control any gasoline contaminates from leaving the temporary pile of soil . No soil will be allowed to leave the project site area as shown on figure 2. All soil samples taken will be tracked by a formal chain-of-custody of samples to maintain the integrity of samples taken. All soil samples taken shall be with brass sampling tubes to prevent minimum disturbance of soil sample. Once a sample is taken the brass tube shall be sealed with teflon caps and duct tape on both ends. The samples shall be labeled and placed in a cold storage box for transportation to the laboratory. Each sample taken will be issued its own sample identification number for identification proposes. Laboratory analysis of soil shall conform to EPA 8020 and modified 8015, see enclosures. The laboratory analysis will be conducted by California Water Labs, Inc. in Modesto, California. 'r Upon receiving the laboratory report we will prepare a Soil Remediation Proposal for San Joaquin County Environmental Health District and California Regional Water Quality Control Boards review. TIME SCHEDULE Our time schedule is four weeks from `the time we receive County approval to start work to the time we submit a Soil Remediation Proposal with the laboratory finding and our recommendation for cleanup of project site. HEALTH PLAN A six foot chain-link fence will be erected around soil removal area to prevent anyone entering the area. Area entrance will be through a ten foot gate to the area. The fence will remain in place until the soils are returned to the hole. Warning signs will be placed on the fence and the gate to the area will be padlocked. A photoionization device will be used to monitor area in which workers will be present to protect those workers. Appropriate cloth overalls and rubber gloves will be worn to protect those in immediate contact with soil . Nearest hospital to the project site is Lodi Memorial located at 975 South Fairmont in lodi . Field equipment is to include a fir4 extinguisher, first aid box, MX251 LEL & Oxygen Monitor with alarm and/or the Gastech Model 1314S. Monitor of air will be continuous during soil removal at site. All work will stop if oxygen deficiency below 19. 5 % or combustible gases is present in a quantity to endanger workers safety at 20% or above Lower Explosive Limit ( LEL) .
