r, Mr. Michael Infuma 1
January 12, 2000
Page 3 of 4 ;
approximately 6-9 feet bgs in the area of investigation. Soil-encountered beneath the fill material `
generally consisted of elastic silt from approximately 9 to 15 feet bgs, poorly graded sand from
approximately 15 to 21124 feet bgs, and well graded sand from approximately 21124 to 26 feet
bgs, the maximum depth explored. Groundwater was not encountered in either boring.
No petroleum odors or discoloration were noted in samples Collected from the borings. The FID
reading from each sample interval was zero. Soil boring logs are included in Attachment A.
i
i 4.2 Laboratory Analysis i
Samples were analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, Xylenes (BTEX), and methyl tert butyl
ether (MTBE) using EPA method 8020, and total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd)
utilizing EPA method 8015 modified. r
` 4.3 Soil Analytical Results
No hydrocarbon analytes were detected in any soil sample`lcollected from boring SBI or SB2.
Analytical results of soil samples are summarized in Table`2. Laboratory reports and chain of
custody documentation are included in Atta#hment B.
5.0 SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
i
5.1 Summary
$ I
• Soil in the area of investigation consists of pea gravel fill to approximately 6-9 feet bgs, !
underlain by elastic silt, poorly graded sand, and well graded sand.
• No groundwater was encountered during the investigation", which extended to approximately 26
feet bgs.
• No TPHd, BTEX, or MTBE were detected in any sample:collected during this investigation.
El
5.2 Conclusions
Soil contamination is apparently limited to a small area in the immediate vicinity of the former
04
{ dispenser at depths shallower than 10 feet bgs. !.
• Based on the absence of soil contamination below approximately 6 feet and the anticipated
depth to groundwater of approximately 40 feet bgs; there appears to be no threat to
groundwater beneath the site.
' 6.0 RECOMMENDATIONS #
Based upon field and analytical data collected during this investigation, Ground Zero recommends
that the site be closed with no further action required.
i
E`
it
y3
iF
i
t
taylorlreporlslsummary]Am
i
