Unless further excavation of the tank pit is currently proposed, the tank excavation <br /> should be filled. Open tank excavations allow for downward migration of contaminants. <br /> Contact the appropriate building department for requirements prior to filling the <br /> excavation. <br /> The SWRCB has a reimbursement program for costs associated with the investigation <br /> and remediation of petroleum contamination from leaking USTs. An application <br /> package for the SWRCB UST Cleanup Fund is enclosed.
