ag3
September 16, 1991
ARCO Service Station No, 2076, Lodi, California
Results of laboratory analyses of soil samples collected during the July 1991 drilling event
(Table 3) indicate concentrations of TPHg and BTEY were below detection limits in
samples from borings B-6, B-7, and B-8.
t;a
Vapor-Extraction Test
During a vapor-extraction test conducted in July 1991, we evaluated whether vapor
extraction is feasible at the site. Based on pressure data obtained during the vapor-
extraction test and the distance between the wells, we concluded that an extraction of 40
cubic feet per minute from a vapor-extraction well will produce an influence on an area with
a radius of approximately 30 feet. Based upon the VET data, RESNA concluded that vapor
extraction is a feasible ntethod of remediating soil at this site. The radius of influence
estimated above can be further refined and the remediation time frame can be initially
estimated if additional subsurface environmental investigations are warranted. Additional
details on the VET are discussed in our Report No. 30005-4. (September 12, 1991) in
Appendix C.
09 PROPOSED WORK
During the tank removal, we will:
0 o Update the site safety plan.
o Observe excavation of soil in and around the gasoline-tank cavity and product
1 i nes.
40 o Collect and analyze appropriate samples of native soil within 2 feet below [fie
base of the former tanks to evaluate if hydrocarbons remain in the soi!.
Collect appropriate samples of native soil from the cavity sidewalls if
discoloration or odor associated with gasoline are evident.
o Observe excavation of soil from the proposed gasoline-tank cavity.
3000s 3Y 6
