After thorough
evaluation by our staff, Public Health Services, Environmental
Health Division (PHS/EHD) has the following comments and
recommendations:
1. Upon removal of the underground storage tanks, soil
samples and analysis will be required under the tanks as
per Tri-Regional Board recommendations. (See table #1
and #2 . ) Additional sampling and analysis will be
required if soil contamination extends beyond the limit
of the tank excavation.
2 . Soil samples should be analyzed for total lead rather
than organic lead. If the lead level exceeds 5 parts per
million (ppm) a W.E.T (7421) analysis will be required.
3 . Provide site specific hospital route maps for each health
and safety plan.
4 . Applied GeoSystems has repeatedly used 10 ppm TPH-G and
1 ppm benzene as an indicator for continuing excavation.
These levels may exceed Maximum allowable levels of
contamination to be left in situ. Soil with these levels
of contamination may require further remediation.
A Division of San Joaquin Counry Health Care Services CO
