(AGE) has conducted of pre-
removal underground storage tank(UST)assessment fothe property at 1301 'Nest Kettlemari Lane
.in Lodi, California. This assessment was conducted in accordance with San Joaquin County Public
Health Services -,Environmental Health Division (PIAS-EHD) and the Central Valley Regional
Water Quality Control Board guidelines for the investigation of underground storage tanks (UST) .
sites.
4n 09 March 1998, four soil borings were advanced noar the 10,000-gallon USTs, dispensers and
piping located on the site,.using direct push technology. Soil samples, were collected at five-foot
intervals. Soil borings were extended to a depth of 25fet below surface grade (bsg). Each sample
was screened for the presence of.organic vapor using al organic vapor.meter equipped with photo- , '
ionization detector. No organic vapors were detected.
Five sail samples from the shallow area around the dis enser.area and from beneath the north and
west end of the USTs were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as_gasoline (TPH-
g) and for volatile aromatics(benzene, toluene, ethyl b nzene and total xylenes: BTE&X) with the
oxygenated fuel additive methyl-tert-btatyl ether(MTBE) in accordance with EPA Methods 8015m:
and 8020; respectively. TPH-g and BT-E&X were no -detected in any of the analyzed samples'
MTBE.was detected at 20 feet bsg in-the soil boring'stablished at the northeast end of the UST
cluster(B1). However, analysis of a soil sample colledted from 25 feet bsg from the same boring,
did not detect MTBE.
The lack'of detectable concentrations-of TPH-4 and BT':-'&X strongly suggests that the UST system
has not had a significant release; however.the MTBE detected in sample B 1-20 indicates that some
kind of release has occurred on the site. MTBE,is a holy mobile component in current gasoline
4005 North Wilson Way, Stockto ,California 95205
Telephone(209)467-1006 F4X(209)467-1118
i
