The above site was placed in the EHD
Local Oversight Program in 1998 as a result of the gasoline and methyl tert-butyl ether
(MTBE) contamination found in soil at the time of the UST removal. In 1999 monitoring
wells (MWs)`were installed and groundwater contamination (gasoline and MTBE) was
discovered. The gasoline and MTBE groundwater plume stili exists at the site.
Groundwater sampling occurred the third and fourth;quarters of 2004 but the quarterly
reports for these sampling events have not been submitted to EHD or the Central Valley
Regional Water Quality Board (CVRWQCB) as required. These reports must be
submitted immediately.
EHD recently measured the distance between monitoring wells 2 and 3 at the site and
found them to be approximately 48 feet apart. Using the scale on the figures in previous
reports and the recently submitted work plan these wells appear to be approximately 80
feet apart. This distorts the size and mass of the contaminant plume. The figures must
be corrected as needed so the wells-and plume size!are accurate.
EHD reviewed the 11 November 2004 "Site Assessment Work Plan” prepared by
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. for the above referenced site. A site conceptual
model that justified the work proposed was not submitted with the work plan as was
recommended in the October 13, 2004, EHD letter. ,
The work plan proposes installation of'a groundwater extraction well and performance of ;
an aquifer pumping test. Prior to installation of a groundwater extraction well the cost of
disposing of the extracted groundwater should be determined to see if this remedial
alternative is cost effective.
f
i
I
