EHD has a
contract with the California State Water Resources Control Board to conduct a
UST corrective action program. The above referenced site has been placed in
the EHD Local Oversight Program as a result of the gasoline and methyl tert-
butyl ether. (MTBE) contamination found in soil and ground water at your site.
EHD has reviewed the "Second Quarter 200,4" report dated July 23, 2604j -
prepared
004; _prepared by Advanced GeoEnviron mental, Inc. (AGE) which includes soil boring
and monitoring well sampling results for recent work completed. The report
recommends continuation of quarterly ground water monitoring, preparation of a
work plan for the vertical assessment of dissolved MTBE in the UST area,
performance of a well receptor survey, and !p reparation of a Corrective Action
Plan (CAP).
In previous conversations with you and your consultant (AGE), it was agreed this
project should move forward without furtherldelays. In those conversations, we
agreed that a CAP with feasibility testing would be provided to EHD by fall of
2004. This schedule was agreed upon due Ito seasonal operations at your site.
A CAP is prepared after the lateral and vertical extent of the contamination has
been determined, feasible alternatives have; been evaluated for mitigating the
contamination and the most cost effective alternative(s) can be selected.
Unfortunately, the contamination at this sitel has not been defined and feasibility
testing has not been performed so remedial alternatives cannot be evaluated or
selected and a CAP cannot be prepared.
If necessary, interim remedial action can be performed at sites to prevent further
migration of contamination and this may be;considered for this site.
A site conceptual model should be prepared for this site to justify the work
proposed to further define the lateral and vertical extent of contamination at this
