' 10 February 2006
. AGE-NC Project No 02-0977
' 2.0. PROCEDURES
In December 2005, one soil boring (135), four SVE wells (VW-1 through VW-4) and one ground
' water monitoring wells (MW-8) were installed at the site under San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department(SJCEHD)drilling permit(Appendix A) Fieldwork was performed in accordance
with the AGE-prepared Revised Site Assessment Work Plan, dated 28 February 2005, and approved
' by the SJCEHD by letter dated 12 August 2005 (Appendix A)
I21 MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
On 09 and 13 December 2005,six soil borings(B5 through B9 and MW-8)were drilled at the site to
' maximum depths of 70 feet bsg The soil borings for B6,B7, B8 and B9 were completed as two-inch
diameter SVE wells VW-2, VW-1, VW-3 and VW-4, respectively, the soil boring for MW-8 was
completed as a two-inch diameter ground water monitoring well Drilling was performed by Cascade
IDrilling, Inc utilizing either a CME-75 high torque, truck-mounted drill rig or a CME-75
limited-access drill rig (LAR), both equipped with 8-inch diameter hollow-stem augers All soil
cuttings generated from drilling activities were containerized in properly labeled California
' • Department of Transportation(DOT)-approved model 17H 55-gallon drums and stored at the north
section of the site, soil boring and well locations are depicted in Figure 2
I
2 1 1 Soil Sampling and Analysis
' Discrete soil samples were collected at 5-foot intervals(between 5 and 70 feet bsg) from borings B5
through B-9, soil samples were collected at 5-foot intervals(between 5 and 65 feet bsg) from boring
' MW-8 Soil samples were collected from B5 through B9 and MW-8 utilizing a California split-spoon
sampler loaded with 2-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves, the sampler was driven by dropping a 140-pound
weight from a height of 30 inches The number of blows 'required to drive each 6-inch length of the
' sampler (blow counts) was recorded on boring logs by an AGE geologist, boring logs are in j
Appendix B j
I
' Soil samples were preserved by covering both ends of the second brass sleeve with Teflon sheets, then
capping and sealing the ends with tape Each preserved sample sleeve was labeled with soil boring
designation, depth, time, date and sampler's initials
IEach preserved soil sample was logged on a chain-of-custody form, placed in a chilled container and
transported to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories (CTEL), a California Department of Health
Services (DHS)-certified laboratory, selected samples were analyzed for
IAdvanced GeoEnvironmentsi,Inc
I
