' 21 February 2005
• AGE-NC Project No 99-0624
• TPH-g was detected in ground water samples collected from wells MW-1 through MW-3,
' MW-5 and MW-7 at a maximum concentration of 43,000µg/1 (MW-2) The appearance of
TPH-g at the same or similar concentrations of MTBE indicates that the reported
concentration of TPH-g is actually an isolated MTBE peak, which falls within the same ;
' carbon range
• The fuel additive MTBE was detected in samples from wells MW-1 through MW-3, MW-5
' and MW-7 at a maximum concentration of 43,000µg/l(MW-2) MTBE concentrations have
been increasing in site monitoring wells since late 2001/early 2002
' Benzene was only detected in the samples collected from well MW-2 at a concentration of
10 µg/1
• The concentrations of benzene and MTBE-are above their respective, DHS-established
Maximum Contaminant Levels in drinking water
' 5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
1• Based on the findings of this investigation,AGE recommends continuation of the quarterly ground
water monitoring program The next monitoring event is scheduled for February 2005
The EHD has requested, in a letter dated 13 October 2004, additional site assessment to define the
extent of MTBE contamination, and interim remedial action to prevent additional off-site migration
of the MTBE-impacted groundwater plume AGE is preparing Revised Site Assessment Work Plan,
to be submitted by the 28 February 2005
6.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
' environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based upon
analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluation of the hydrogeologic conditions
' at the site for the purpose of this investigation was made from a limited number of available data
points(ie ground water samples) and subsurface conditions may vary away from these data points
No other warranty, expressed or implied,is made as to the professional interpretations, opinions and
' recommendations contained in this report
•
' Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
