Pacific Gas and EleclAr Company 55 East Tenth Street William G.Bridges
Tracy,CA 95376 Manager
" 20918352730
August 15 , 1983
i
Mr. Richard Hastie
Mayor, City of Tracy
4'.};r, Jrk
x' 325 E. 10th Street
Tracy, CA 95376 ENFIERMIT/SERVO SAH
Dear Dick:
RE: PG&E Tracy Former Manufactured Gas Plant Site
This is to notify you that we anticipate site characterization
field work to begin at PG&E' s former manufactured gas plant site
in Tracy in September 1988 . As you know, the site is located near
the intersection of Franklin and Acacia Streets .
The work will be essentially the same for the Tracy site as that
done earlier in Stockton. It involves drilling soil borings and
analyzing soil samples for polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons ,
metals , total petroleum hydrocarbons , cyanide, phenols and
sulfide . Monitoring wells will be installed to charactrize the
first ground water zone beneath the site for quality and
hydrogeologic characteristics .
We have a copy of the complete work plan, and would be happy to
make it available for your review; just give my office a call .
The same offer is being extended to District 5 Supervisor,
Evelyn Costa, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, Bill Souza,
and County Administrator, Dave Rolands . By copy of this letter,
the directors of public and environmental health are also
invited to review the plan.
Once the studies have been completed, a site characterization
report will be submitted to local and state environmental
agencies, and, of course, will be reviewed with you, Evelyn,
Bill , and Dave.
Sincerely,
__W3:-L-L G.
BRIDGES
Manager
WGB: eeh
cc: C.
