Fremont Street
Stockton, CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) has
reviewed the"Preliminary Subsurface Investigation Report"dated May 22, 2000, prepared by
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. for the above referenced site.
On May 4, 1988, a 5000 gallon diesel underground storage tank(UST)and a 10,000 gallon
unleaded gasoline UST were removed from this site under permit and inspection of PHS/EHD.
Soil samples were collected from beneath the UST's at the time of the removal. Contaminants
analyzed for at that time by the laboratory were not detect. In correspondence dated February
10, 1994, PHS/EHD confirmed that the tank removal investigation for these two tanks was
completed and that no further action was required at that time.
Advanced GeoEnviron mental, Inc. has requested that this determination be reaffirmed since the
above referenced report contains additional investigative information in the area where the two
UST's were located. Soil contamination was evidenced at 10 feet below surface grade in the
area where the dispensers were formerly located. The log for the boring where the contamination
was evidenced noted there was no hydrocarbon odor at 15 feet below surface grade. A water
sample was collected from a boring about 25 feet away from this boring and results of the
laboratory analysis for contaminants were non detect. Based on this information, it is the
determination of PHS/EHD that further action regarding the two USTs removed from this site in
May 1988 is not required.
Please be advised that it is the property owner's responsibility to properly manage any
contaminated soil encountered during site activities. In addition, PHS/EHD has no comment on
the other investigative activities or the results contained in the above report.
If you have any questions contact me at(209)468-3449.
Donna Heran, REHS
Director of Environmental Health
L
Margaret Lagorio, Supervising REHS
Unit IV
c: AGE—Bob Marty
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
