This report includes a Work Plan for installation of five
replacement groundwater monitoring wells.
We will be sending a review letter commenting on the investigation and approving the Work Plan.
The Work Plan is acceptable provided the following comments are implemented.
1. The wells must be placed in the approximate locations proposed in the Work Plan.
2. Proposed monitoring wells MW-6 through MW-9 must be screened within the "middle water
bearing zone", described in the report as the depth interval between 10 and 25 feet below ground
surface.
3. Proposed monitoring well MW-5 may be screened within the "shallow water bearing zone",
described in the report as the depth interval between 2 and 10 feet below ground surface. If field
conditions are appropriate, this well may be screened into the middle zone.
4. The initial sampling of groundwater in each of the 5 wells must include the low-flow method
conducted in the past on former wells MW-1 through MW-4 and following collection of a sample,
each well must be resampled using a purge method that removes at least 3 well casing and filter pack
volumes.
5. The first groundwater monitoring report must include an evaluation of laboratory analyses results
on samples collected by low-flow and full purge methods from each well, and recommendations for
sampling methods to be conducted during subsequent sampling events must be included.
6. All five wells must be sampled on a quarterly basis and quarterly reports submitted to the
Regional Water Board within 45 days of the end of the quarter. After four consecutive quarters of
results have been obtained, the Port of Stockton may propose a revised sampling and reporting
schedule if desired.
7. Monitoring well installation permits must be applied for and approved by the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department.
1
