The reports,
prepared by Environmental Risk Services Corporation (ERS) for the Building 16 former
underground storage tank (UST) site on Rough and Ready Island, Port of Stockton (Port),
California, were received on 5 September 2007 and 6 November 2007, respectively. The
Building 16 site is a former gasoline service station developed by the U.S. Department of the
Navy in 1963.
Second Quarter Report Review
The Port monitored and sampled groundwater monitoring wells MW-5 through MW-9 on
10 May 2007 and submitted the samples to a laboratory for chemical analyses of total
petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) in the gasoline range, benzene, toluene, ethyl-benzene.
xylenes (BTEX), and the oxygenate additives methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), di-isopropyl
ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), and
tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA). TPH in the gasoline range or BTEX were not detected above
the laboratory reporting limits. MTBE was detected in samples from four of the wells ranging
from 1 .0 to 120 micrograms per liter (µg/L), TAME in two wells at 0.8 and 5.1 pg/L, and TBA
in one well at 42 pg/L.
The 2nd Quarter Report documents the installation of groundwater monitoring wells MW-5
through MW-9 at the Building 16 site. These well were installed on 16 and 17 April 2007, to
California Environmental Protection Agency
rj.• Rer)'clee]Paper
