(Twining) were authorized in an
agreement (C- 195-0077) signed by Mr. Tim Pipes of K. S. Dunbar and Associates (Dunbar)
July 132 1995 .
OBSERVATION AND SAMPLING PROCEDURES
Upon removal of the USTs, the depth to the base of the USTs below site grade was
measured and recorded. The physical dimensions of the USTs were measured and
recorded. The USTs were visually inspected for oxidation, discoloration, holes, and other
distinguishing physical characteristics. Soils within the excavation were observed for
discoloration and the presence of petroleum product odors,
Soilsamples were collected approximately 3 feet beneath the USTs. These soil samples
were removed from the excavation by an excavator. Twining's technician collected the soil
samples by pushing a precleaned stainless steel sleeve into soils within the excavator's
bucket. In addition, characterization soil samples were collected from excavated soil
stockpiles. Each soil stockpile characterization sample was a composite sample comprised
of four sub-samples. In addition, a sample of groundwater was collected from the diesel
UST excavation. The water sample was collected by lowering a disposable bailer into the
CORPORATE OFFICE: MODESTO VISALIA BAKERSFIELD
2527 Fresno Street 4230 Kiernan Ave. Suite 105 2521 E.
