Dear Mr. Paul and Ms. Daren Zumberge:
By electronic mail dated 09 September 2014, the State Water Resources Control Board (State
Water Board) requested that the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD)
consider removing monitoring wells MW-2, MW-8, MW-13, MW-18, MW-24 through MW-26 and
dual-phase extraction well DPE8 from the monitoring and sampling schedule at the above-
referenced site. The EHD has reviewed historical and current groundwater analytical data in the
context of well locations and directs the following sampling schedule be implemented
immediately:
• Collect groundwater samples from MW-2 and MW-8 one additional time to confirm
declining trends of petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations before removing these wells
from the monitoring and sampling schedule;
• Discontinue collecting groundwater samples from MW-13, MW-18, MW-25 and MW-26;
• Collect groundwater samples semi-annually from MW-5, MW-17, MW-19, MW-20,
MW-21, MW-22, MW-23 and MW-27;
• Collect groundwater samples annually from MWA, MW-4, MW-9, MW-24 and MW-28;
and
• Collect groundwater samples from DPE1, DPE2, DPE3, DPE6, DPE8, and DPE11 one
additional time and evaluate the groundwater analytical results, comparing the analytical
data to groundwater results from the remaining wells that were sampled to determine
future sampling of these wells.
Analyze groundwater samples from MW-1, MW-2, MW-5, MW-8, MW-9, MW-17, MW-19,
MW-21, MW-22, MW-28, DPE1, DPE2, DPE3, DPE6, DPE8 and DPE11 for total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g); benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (STEX);
