<br /> If chemical oxidation via O3 sparging were to be implemented, the cost for design, permitting,
<br /> well installation, construction and installation, operation and maintenance, and continued
<br /> quarterly monitoring/sampling/reporting is estimated to be approximately $500,000.
<br /> 6 REMEDIAL APPROACH
<br /> Given that DPE and Ozone injection appear to be most cost effective alternatives, further
<br /> evaluation of these two remedial alternatives is recommended. In order to assess the
<br /> effectiveness of ozone injection and identify if unwanted reactions (i.e. hexa4n,bant chromium
<br /> mobilization) might occur, we recommend conducting a bench scale test and a pilot study.
<br /> W&A proposes installation of one ozone injection well to collect necessary samples to conduct
<br /> the ozone injection test. The ozone injection well can also be used during the pilot study. To
<br /> evaluate the viability of DPE remediation at the site and to gather data (individual well vapor and
<br /> groundwater flow rates, influent vapor concentrations, induced vacuum, drawdown of the water
<br /> table in nearby wells, etc.) to assist in the development of an appropriate engineering design for
<br /> the full-scale DPE system, W&A proposes the performance of a 8- 12 hour DPE pilot test at the
<br /> site. Details associated with the ozone injection bench scale test and DPE and ozone injection
<br /> pilot studies will be presented in a separate Work Plan
