Health and Safety Plan <br /> a Page 8 <br /> � I <br /> A temporary CRC will be established by spreading a waterproof ground sheet and using several tubs for <br /> personnel decontamination. The area will be established by the SSO in discussion with the HSC and BEA Project <br /> `- Manager. <br /> On-site showering will not be required as part of the routine decontamination procedure. However, a shower <br /> will be taken at the end of the working day after returning from the site to complete the decontamination process before <br /> the next meal or retiring for the day. <br /> ! Disposal equipment, including respirator cartridges, must be placed in heavy plastic bags or directly into 55- <br /> gallon drums for off-site disposal in an approved manner. Used decontamination solutions will also be stored in 55- <br /> gallon drums. <br /> 9.2.2 EMERGENCY DECONTAMINATION <br /> i--� In the event that a seriously injured person is suspected of being contaminated, the SSO or other site worker <br /> will wrap the injured individual in clean plastic sheeting to prevent contamination of the ambulance. Less severely <br /> injured individuals will have their protective clothing carefully cut off before transport to the hospital. <br /> t ) 9.2.3 COVERALLS <br /> l If coveralls are sent off-site for cleaning, the cleaner establishment will be notified of any hazards prior to <br /> receiving the coveralls. <br /> l I 9.3 WATER AVAILABILITY <br /> 1 Potable water will be available on-site. <br /> 9A RECORD KEEPING <br /> To assure HASP implementation, many site activities will be documented. These include maintenance of the <br /> HASP at the site; employee HASP sign-off, daily safety briefings; site sign-in log; emergency medical data sheets-, health <br /> and safety log-notes (which include instrument calibration records, sampling data, monitoring results and incident <br /> reports); chemical safety data sheets; and other records identified in the HASP. All documents noted are subject to audit <br /> and review by the Project Health and Safety Coordinator and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist. <br /> i9.5 EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN <br /> Emergency response procedures have been developed for extraordinary events that could occur during field <br /> _- operations. These events include accidents and/or injuries, chemical exposure, spills and fires. <br /> In general, the following actions shall be implemented in the event of an emergency: <br /> 1 . First aid or other appropriate initial action will be administered by those closest to the accidentlevent. <br /> This assistance will be coordinated by the designated Site Safety Officer and will he conducted <br /> so that those rendering assistance are not placed in a situation of unacceptable risk. The <br /> primary concern is to avoid placing a greater number of personnel in jeopardy. <br /> 2. The Project Manager, Field Supervisor and Health and Safety Coordinator will be notified <br /> immediately. They will in turn notify the Mr. Paul Zumberge. <br /> I <br />
