Frontier Transportation, Inc. <br /> Health and Safety Plan <br /> Page 5 <br /> This section describes the health and safety training requirements necessary for participating in field <br /> operations at the Frontier Transportation, Inc. property. <br /> 6.1 TRAINING REQUIREMENTS <br /> BEA employees and subcontractors who enter the site will be trained to be able to recognize and understand <br /> the potential hazards to health and safety associated with the site operations. All BEA employees potentially <br /> exposed to hazardous substances will have participated in 40 hours of health and safety instruction and actual field <br /> experience under the direct supervision of a trained, experienced supervisor. The objectives of the health and safety <br /> training are: <br /> * To make each team member aware of the potential hazards they may encounter; <br /> f * To provide the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the work with minimal risk to <br /> worker health and safety; <br /> * To make workers aware of the purpose and limitations of safety equipment; <br /> * To ensure that workers can safely avoid or escape from emergency situations. <br /> 1 6.2 ADDITIONAL TRAINING REQUIREMENTS <br /> Workers exposed to special hazards during field operations at the Frontier Transportation, Inc. property <br /> Jshall receive additional training as determined by the Project Health and Safety Coordinator. On-site managers and <br /> supervisors shall receive all training required for employees whom they supervise, plus eight additional hours of <br /> - I specialized training on management and supervision of such operations. Prior work experience or training will be <br /> acceptable provided that it is equivalent to the training requirements specified above. Whenever employees are <br /> — % working on-site, at least one person will be currently certified in Standard First Aid/CPR training. <br /> 6.3 DAILY SAFETY MEETINGS <br /> Site-specific "tailgate" safety briefings will be conducted daily by the SSO or his designee to discuss the <br /> day's operations, review any modifications to the HASP and ensure that site personnel have the necessary <br /> information to conduct their jobs safely. The Tailgate Safety Meeting Form (Attachment 2) will be completed <br /> during this briefing and signed by all personnel in attendance. All completed forms shall be maintained on-site. <br /> Upon completion of the project, all forms shall be forwarded to the project Health and Safety files. <br /> 6.4 TRAINING PROGRAM CONTENT <br /> BEA's Health and Safety Training Program involves instruction, self-study and field exercises in the <br /> I' following areas: <br /> * Science of Hazardous Materials: Chemical and physical properties of hazardous <br /> materials. <br /> * Toxicology: Dose response, routes of exposure, toxic effects and exposure limits. <br /> * Industrial Hygiene: Selection and use of proper protective equipment and clothing to <br /> ensure minimal contact with contamination, along with the proper methods to <br /> decontaminate non-disposable equipment. <br /> * Decontamination: The methods to don and doff protective equipment and clothing to <br /> ensure minimal contact with contamination, along with the proper methods, to <br /> I <br /> P J <br />
