Attempt to extinguish fire using portable fire extinguisher or by smothering <br /> { (personnel protective equipment may be required); <br /> 3 . Request emergency response assistance (ambulance, local Fire Department, <br /> 1 hospital, poison control center) as appropriate for any injuries or exposures to <br /> hazardous chemicals which occur during suppression of the fire; <br /> i 4. Notify the BEII Project Manager and Health and Safety Coordinator; <br /> 1 5, Notify Frontier Transportation, <br /> 9.5.3.2 LARGE FIRES <br /> r <br /> In the event of a large fire, or small fire, which cannot be extinguished, the following actions shall be taken: <br /> 1 . Evacuate all personnel from the area, preferably to an upwind location; <br /> 2. Notify the local Fire Department and other emergency response agencies; <br /> i <br /> _ 3 . Notify the BEH Project Manager and Health and Safety Coordinator; <br /> 4. Notify Frontier Transportation. <br /> 9.6 .EMERGENCY FOLLOW-UP AND EVALUATION <br /> The BEH Field Supervisor will notify the Project Manager and Health and Safety <br /> Coordinator as soon as possible after an emergency situation has been stabilized. The Project Manager will then <br /> notify Frontier Transportation, appropriate agencies and environmental contacts. If an individual is injures, an <br /> Accident/Incident Report will be filed with the HSC. <br /> 9.7 PROCEDURES FOR REPORTING TO FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL AGENCIES <br /> j In all cases, the BEH Project Manager will be notified. He, in tam, will contact the client and any <br /> regulatory agencies. <br /> 9.8 EMERGENCY EVACUATION PROCEDURES <br /> In the event of a site emergency, all workers at the site will be notified by the SSO or designee to <br /> stop work immediately and offer assistance. Those not needed for immediate assistance will decontaminate per <br /> normal procedures and leave the site. <br /> 9.9 GENERAL SAFE WORK PRACTICES <br /> a <br /> 9.9.1 MINIMIZATION OF CONTAMINATION <br /> i <br /> Personnel and equipment used in the contaminated area should be minimized, consistent with <br /> effective site operations. Only absolutely required samples will be taken back to the laboratory. Contamination will <br /> be avoided wherever possible by not kneeling on contaminated ground, avoiding puddles where possible and using <br /> 7 <br /> N � <br />
