2005 Yd Quarter Groundwater Report
Frontier'Transportation,Inc.
December 5,2005
Page 6
identified at 945 pg/L, a slight decrease from the previous sampling event (See Figure 12 for
MTBE in MW-3R over time). The thud quarter 2005 groundwater sampling also identified
dissolved MTBE in MW-9 at 871 µg/L and in MW-17 at 193 gg/L. MW-19,MW-20 and NM-
21
W21 identified dissolved MTBE at 80.2 µg/L, 4,620 µg/L, and 8,750µg/L,respectively tissolved
MTBE was detected below the MCL in MW-2, MW-15 and MW-18."he elevated dissolved
MTBE concentrations are limited to the shallow monitoring wells only Dissolved MTBE was
' non-detect(<2 µg/L) in MW-13, MW-14 and MW-16.See Figure 13 for the recent shallow well
MTBE Isoconcentration Map .
' Beginning in March 2004, all groundwater samples collected were analyzed for
oxygenates ETBE, TAME,TBA, DIPE, 1,2-DCA and EDB using EPA method 8260.Detectable
concentrations of analyzed oxygenates were identified in September 2005 Dissolved ETBE was
' found in MW-1, MW-3R, MW-9, MW-20 and MW-21 with a maximum of 29 µg/l,(MW-21) i
Dissolved TAME was identified in MW-1, MW-31;, MW-20 and MW-21 with a maximum of
'
213 gg/L(MW-21).'Dissolved TBA was only found in MW-I and MW-3R at 129 µg/L and
39 3 µg/L, respectively The reporting limit for DIPE, ETBE and TAME was 2 pg/L and for
TBA it was 10 µg/L. See Appendix B for laboratory analytical results
1 • 5.0) WASTE MANAGEMENT
' Any free product, purged groundwater, and decontamination water generated from the
site during sampling activities will be stored in sealed 55-gallon drums for a period not to exceed
90 days Stored wastes will be profiled for hazardous constituents and characterized as Non-
Hazardous, California Hazardous,or RCRA Hazardous, as appropriate Any transportation of
waste will be under appropriate manifest
' 6,0) CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDA'T'IONS
Based on groundwater sample analysis results, the dissolved MTBE plume appears to be
' continuing to expand westward EIevated concentrations of dissolved TPH-g and BTEX were
identified only in the MW 21 However, the identification of elevated levels of dissolved MTBE
in 7 wells indicates that la
teralmigration of MTBE as occurring beneath the site
BEA recommends that quarterly groundwater monitoring continue at the site until
constant or decreasing dissolved MTBE concentrations are observed. Further, migration of
' MTBE indicates that corrective action need to be initiated to prevent additional migration.
Groundwater samples will be analyzed for TPH-g using EPA method 8015m and for oxygenates
' and BTEX using EPA method 8260 in all future monitoring episodes as directed by the
PHS/EHD
