Quarterly Monitoring Report Page 5
Morton-Alco&Unocal Operable Units April 27,2007
WKA No. 6324.02
1 ■ Volatile organic hydrocarbon (VOCs)2 compounds
• EPA Method 8270C
■ Semi-volatile organic hydrocarbons (SVOCs)3
• EPA 6000/7000 series
■ Dissolved metals
Well monitoring and purging equipment were cleaned prior to use in each well. Equipment
cleaning rinsate and water purged from the wells was placed in a sealed, labeled 55-gallon drum
and stored on-site for later disposal. Well Purging Data Sheets are attached in Appendix A.
' In addition to the environmental sampling conducted, quality assurance/quality control rinsate
samples were collected. Two rinsate samples labeled RN1 and RN2 were collected and analyzed
for VOCs and TPHg by EPA Method 8260B. Rinsate sample RNl is collected prior to sample
equipment cleaning and RN2 is collected after sampling has been completed or at the end of each
day. Both RNl and RN2 are collected from the third or"last rinse" container of the rinsate
' process. A Duplicate sample (MWH24) was collected from MW39.
4.3 Investigation-Derived Waste
All liquid investigation-derived waste (IDW) generated during well sampling was placed in
labeled, sealable 55-gallon drums. The IDW drums were stored on site pending disposal. All
other disposable IDW (gloves, etc.)were placed in municipal waste containers for disposal.
5.0 RESULTS OF MONITORING AND SAMPLE ANALYSIS
5.1 Site Groundwater Conditions
1 Groundwater DTW at the site ranged from 10.30 feet below-top-of-casing (btoc) in well MW7 to
18.77 feet btoc in well MW6. Groundwater elevations based on the DTW measurements from
' the wells ranged from 0.30 feet msl in MW38 to—7.27 feet msl in MW6. Generally,
groundwater flow on February 5, 2007 was southeast with a gradient of approximately 0.033.
Figure 3 presents a groundwater elevation map of calculated groundwater elevations according to
data collected during this event.
2'The full list of VOC target analytes are shown in the laboratory reports.
3 The full list of SVOC target analytes are shown in the laboratory reports.
4 The full list of dissolved metal target analytes are shown in the laboratory reports.
