Treadwell&Rollo
•
and analyzed for total lead. Total lead concentrations ranged from 9 to 560 mg/kg. Soluble lead
analyses were run for twelve samples, with results ranging from 0.5 to 22 mg/l. The chemical
analytical results from Treadwell &Rollo's 1996 investigation are summarized in Tables 1 a
through 5a in Appendix A.
Treadwell & Rollo performed a site characterization study in September 1999. A backhoe was
used to dig seven exploratory pits at the locations shown on Figure 2. Test pits l OTP-1 through
I OTP-6 were excavated to a depth of 6 feet bgs and test pit l OTP-7 was excavated to a depth of
10 feet bgs. A total of 19 soil samples were collected at depths ranging from 1 to 10 feet bgs,
and analyzed for some or all of the following: TPH-g, TPH-d, and BTEX; volatile and
semivolatile organics; and nineteen metals. A total of eight groundwater samples were collected
from wells MW-2 through MW-9, plus a trip blank and duplicate. Samples were analyzed for
volatile and semivolatile organics, petroleum fuel hydrocarbons, and metals.
• No TPH-g was detected in any soil sample. TPH-d was detected in four of nineteen soil samples
at 39 to 1,400 mg/kg. No BTEX or volatile/semivolatile organic compounds were detected. Of
the metal analyses, only total lead was significant, with results ranging from 5.6 to 1,800 mg/kg.
Soluble lead analysis using the STLC procedure on one sample and the TCLP procedure on four
samples resulted in three nondetects and positive results of 6.5 mg/l (STLC), and 18 mg/l
(TCLP). No volatile or semivolatile organics were detected in the groundwater samples, nor
were any significant metals.
1.2.1.2 Area 11
Description
This site is located west of Area 10 at 300 North Harrison Street. Currently there are no
structures on site, although about half of the site is covered with a steel-reinforced concrete slab
that was likely the floor for the former warehouse (Figure 3).
7
25970309.DGD 24 August 2000
